Playing other games for cover

Well due to location and bankroll i really only have 1 casino that i can play at the $5 level. I would like to go frequently and play the 8d shoe game so i was wondering if i for this level playing other games like video poker, craps, slots or baccarat are necessary. I usually have to play all to even get a seat at these tables and haven't gotten any heat from spreading 1:10. I wong out sometimes to skip a really bad shoe and come back at the next deal. But i don't play any other games in this casino and have a card. Should i play other games to make it seem like i just don't target blackjack? if so how much? i want to maximize my longevity.

$5 level... 8d... play all ... 1:10.
I edited for the important parts.

First of all, 1:10 is an incredibly weak weak spread for 8D without substantial wonging. Your profit potential is going to be marginal, and risk of ruin is going to be large.

Second, at the $5 level, at a full table expected value is going to be under $5 per hour. So, the casino shouldn't care what you do. If they do decide to boot you, then you've just lost the opportunity to play a game that wins you less than you would make begging for change on the street corner. I would posit that losing such an "opportunity" is not a bad thing.

I don't recommend playing cover games, because you can't afford it, the casino won't care, and the ramifications of blowing your cover are negligible.

I also recommend you bring an abacus to the table next time.

Playing even a minimum amount of slots will get you free room and buffet offers from almost every Harrahs. It's not a cover play, its an advantage play.

You don't need cover, but if you insist on doing it, almost every casino values machine play higher than the corresponding amount on table play - they don't have to pay machines by the hour, but they have to pay dealers by the hour.

I'd recommend saving your money, taking a trip to somewhere with better games, and hitting it harder. Play-all on any shoe game is going to be a weak game.

Find a Jacks Or Better 9/6 VP machine and play it using perfect strategy and you will do better than at the BJ game as you describe it.:)

Best to you,

Can you point me in the direction of a basic strategy guide for video poker?

Wizard Of Odds.com-free tutorial that is very good. You can also buy software from Bob Dancer.

VP can be a very good play if you are careful in the machine selection and play. The comps really add up and lots of AP opportunities.:)
