ploppy and dealer conspire against me!

I'm not really a card counter, although I have been playing A LOT of blackjack lately. 6-8 deck games, DAS, dealer stands on soft seventeen, 1-20 betting spread, weak penetration (although I found one dealer that gave great pen and ALSO showed the first burn card w/o anyone asking).

Anyway! This is vs another dealer. I am flat betting / voodoo betting through a couple shoes and just cleaning up. Up around 100+ units. At one point I'm guessing the count is positive (not rly sure, I find it very difficult to keep track while playing my hand / talking to people / having fun esp. if I have a big bet out there) so I stand on hard sixteen vs dealer big card. The ploppy hits and busts, then the dealer busts. The ploppy mumbles something about how terrible a person I am (or something) and the dealer says "what I would do is just throw it right back at him. I mean, he's making all the money so if he's going to start standing on sixteens, then you can just throw it right back at him", assuming I suppose that poppy should hit me back by standing on whatever stiff hand he had there vs dealer big card. Of course it didn't bother me at any point, but looking back it just made me howl with laughter at the idiot dealer who seems to take it for granted that the ploppy can see into the future and predict which cards are going to come out of the shoe.

If you aren't counting, why are words like "betting spread" and "penetration" even in your vocabulary? You should be looking for games where they cut off half the shoe. You'll get in less hands per hour and lose less.

Try Fitzgeralds in downtown Vegas if you're ever there. Literally 4 decks cut off the shoe games.

That dealer is very unproffesional in telling the other player to come back at you. You should have a talk with the casino MGMT. about him.

When I have someone comment about my "bad plays" (according to their view of what I should do), I like to throw in a few really really wierd plays just to get the ploppie really mad. It's almost as much fun as winning a big double down - although I will admit it doesn't help pay for dinner.

Yes, I have BS memorized for this game, although I frequently make mistakes on 11vX, 16vX, 12v2,3 and the insurance bet. Despite the fact that I am not counting I have received a little heat, for example one of the pitbusses said "are you counting cards [name]" and we laughed it off.

I agree with CP.

Very unprofessional of the dealer to even comment on something such as that. I would definitely ask to see a floor person. The dealer is practically telling the other player what to do in an effort to make you lose (poor attempt).

Also, I would just stick to BS and not try to guess what the count is. You can dig yourself into a pretty deep hole by doing this. However, of all the mistakes you could make standing on 16 v X is the smallest of mistakes, nonetheless, a mistake.

This sounds like index plays. Why are they even in consideration if you are not counting? Insurance is the most profitable index play a counter can have in his arsenal, however, in this case you are just adding to the house advantage.

One final note, I understand you play blackjack for the fun it generates and the rush it can. However, if you want to become a true skilled AP, having fun is a side bonus. I know not everyone who is an AP looks at it as a business, but I do because I'm not there to gamble. The ability to drown out all the loud sounds of slot machines and people talking, and knowing your decision instantly is what makes the AP (not to mention practice practice and then practice).
