Card counting is about predicting if/when the remaining cards to be played are rich in 10s right?
Question for the regular players - at what point after a count goes TC positive is it advantageous to override basic strategy plays with plays that are based on pulling a 10 card. For example, doubling on a 4,5 v a dealer 8, splitting a 9,9 v a dealer 7 or standing on a 8,4 v a 2? And of course taking the insurance option.
Looking at counting systems, one that seems a little simpler to absorb is the red seven system. But when the count goes positive, the affect on plays seems minimal - stand on 16 v 10, 12 v 3 (pivot, zero count) and stand on 15 v 10 and 12 v 2 and take insurance at plus two. What about other plays when the pos count goes even higher? Taking advantage of the count seems to be about raising bets rather than playing to take full benefit of it. And as there is plenty of anecdotal evidence to show within this forum, it's not always possible to raise the stakes too much without putting your name in a frame.
Can anyone offer some pointers, or am I missing a point somewhere ?
