Poker ruins your comps?

I would think if you play poker rated, it would add little to your comps. However, heard from a floor person that it actually ruins your comps, because they average it in. e.g., someone who is expected to play BJ for 8 hrs is more valuable than someone who is expected to play 4 hrs of BJ and 4 hrs of poker. Anyone know for sure?

I believe poker players get very little in comps? I am sure casino dependent. I would think if you play poker on top of 8 hrs of bj you would probably get slightly better comps then just playing 8 hrs of bj. I have never heard of strong comp strategy and poker play.
 
You're usually getting $1 an hour in the poker room. Usually, this doesn't register as a "trip" for the casino, like playing blackjack would.
 
Also pokers as little as $0.40/hr. in a lot of places.

Right, I would think poker would add a little bit to comps, but the floor person actually recommended not playing rated for poker (if you primarily play blackjack). Can kind of see his point, e.g., when it comes to if they decide to comp you a room.

Like to play rated in poker, just so they don't see the endless hours of blackjack.
 
If it generates a "trip" as far as mailers and other offers go, don't get rated in the poker room.
 
If you play poker for hundreds of hours, you could become a Harrah's Diamond and get the same comps other Diamond members also get.

The comps for poker are better online. You could get 30-50% rakeback, vs about 14% rakeback live (before you even consider tipping the dealer). You can be a breakeven or losing player online and still make a killing on rakeback.

If you define killing as 20 dollars an hour then yes you can make a killing off rakeback.
 
Not a poker player myself, but I have an aquaintance who plays poker for a living, and he gets comped rooms in Vegas during weekdays, so his poker play must rate something. :confused: I realize the qualifications for getting comped rooms in vegas during weekdays aren't much these days.
