Possible to get an edge?

In Montreal, there is only one state owned Casino, so they have crappy rules for every games. In Blackjack, they have 8 decks, they hit on soft 17 and some other bad rules like you can't play more than 2 hands at a time. They have about 0.70% edge only with the rules.

Even with all these rules, is it still possible to make money out of it? I don't have a car yet so I can't really go anywhere else >.<

What kind of edge can I get and how long will it take to get it? I don't even know if it's possible to enter mid shoe. I practiced a lot and I want to try in a real casino now but that's all I got in my city, kind of sucks .

I was in Casino du Montreal a while back, and I certainly didn't find anything exciting for blackjack conditions. I seem to recall they were cutting around 2 to 2.5 decks out of play on their 8-deck games. When I was there, the casino was crowded, so Wonging in and out of games would be difficult.
Perhaps if you choose the least popular times of day you might can accomplish that. They allow back play, where you bet behind another player seated at the table. However, you never know how badly a player might misplay a hand with your money on it, so I would be very hesitant to use that option.

If you do play there, you'll need a big bet spread, and you'll want to leave on negative counts. It's a tough game.

Damn this sucks, and I also got classes during the day so it would be hard for me to go during a good time. Do you know what are the limits there? On their website they say nothing and their "costumer service" never answer my emails.

I was also there about a month ago and wouldn't recommend anybody wasting their time going there. Some of the pen was as bad as 3 decks cut out. You can find the occasional 2 decks but 2.5 pen was pretty standard there. The weekend when I played was very busy and the lowest tables were $15 but most were $25. The $50 tables are good for backcounting as there was usually a few spots available. When I was backcounting I didn't get a single max bet out because of the poor pen.
My advice to you would be to travel to better locations or get a new hobby!

I'm not even 21 yet, so I can't play in USA with my ID card and I don't want them to ask me for a social security number and that kind of stuff if I have a friend's ID card, and I really don't look like 21 anyway so they are very likely to ask some Id proofs

Is back playing permitted in any US casinos?

Thanks, jp
yes............ and even in a place that it's not you could collude with someone and it would be hard for the pit to argue with that.

What about this one. In blackjack tables in Finland house wins ties. Is it possible to get an edge with this awful rule? Other common rules are: BJ pays 3:2, dd on 9,10,11, no dd after split and no resplitting. 6 decks and dealer stays on all 17's. I calculated with casino verites advantage calculator that house edge with same rules without house winning ties would be 0,75, but there wasn't an option for that rule.

If you see a game where the dealer takes ties, RUN, don't walk, out the door.
The Finland game has a house edge of about 9.5%!
