Potowatomi - Rules Vs. Decks - A Tradeoff

Ok, so I'm new at this. Practicing on CV, counting down decks, and then hitting the nearest casino, Potowatomi, in Milwaukee, to see how things are shaping up in real time. I had played at a couple of crowded $10 tables that were pretty uninspiring (and difficult to count) and had the same amount I started with.

Then I passed the $25, hand thrown, 2 deck tables. I asked the guy, "What's the difference between your table and the others?" He said only double on hard 10 & 11. No tables at the casino offer surrender.

I said, "What the hell!" I quickly doubled my stake at his table, tipped him, had my victory drink, and left.

My question is this: Is giving up multiple chances to double in exchange for 2 decks (that are easy to count) a good tradeoff?

Hard 10-11, that is poor versus any 10-11 such as softs,, can you split to 4? Sloppy dealers? How many hands can you play? Can you add a hand at any time? Do you have to double bet to play 2 spots? Shuffle info? Knowing what I know about this casino it is probably a poor game.

Enlighten us please.

Hard 10-11, that is poor versus any 10-11 such as softs,, can you split to 4? Sloppy dealers? How many hands can you play? Can you add a hand at any time? Do you have to double bet to play 2 spots? Shuffle info? Knowing what I know about this casino it is probably a poor game.

Deal hits soft 17 at all tables. You could play multiple hands as you would at the other tables. For every spot you wished to take, you must bet at least the table minimum. Is there an upper limit to hands you can add? I dunno. I'm not sure what qualifies as a "sloppy dealer." He was fast, efficient, and made no errors. Per shuffling, he hand shuffled a deck, put it in a machine, and withdrew a second deck from the same machine. I assume this device performs a thorough shuffle. I'm not sure about splitting to 4, however, I don't recall the sign stipulating rules that place a limit on this. I've seen guys split multiple times with the shoe games. I'll jot down the rules in greater detail next trip.

In browsing through these posts, I get the impression that the midwest isn't the best place to be in general. Positive comments have been few and far between.

Around Chicago, the games are not that good.

If you are in downtown Chicago, then Ameristar and Horseshoe in East Indiana are better than Potowatomi in Milwaukee.

Of course YMMV in terms of driving distance depending on where you live in Chicago.

Mich and Minn have much better games. Upper Wisc is decent for lower limits
