My wife and I went to the casino last night and we went to a table with two men already there. We sat down, and one fellow said, "You can sit, although this is a private table." My wife courteously said, "Oh, I'm sorry!" but I just laid my money down, indicating that I didn't care.
The dealer didn't say anything and there wasn't a sign that said "Private Table." The men were cool about it and didn't really mind, but said, "It's polite to ask, that's all."
So what's the deal? Was I rude? Do I have to approach every seemingly available table now and sheepishly ask, "Sorry to bother you, sire, but I was hoping maybe us derelicts could also play?"
