QFIT question on playing strategies

Hi, just a quickie.

What's the difference between the Old Complete High-Low and the 1994 Basic High-Low on CVBJ. I notice that some of the values are different between them (e.g. 12v5,6, 13v2,3).

What's the story?

Thanks in advance and regards

In the original hard cover copy of PBJ, Stanford used flooring. In the second version, he used truncation. The "old" tables date back to his original tables. Which were superior. When Don Schlesinger edited the second edition, he argued that it was a mistake to change the tables, and he was correct. But, I include both tables as they are in the books as that is what people are used to.

Most accurate?

Is there a mathematically correct answer to the question of which is more accurate:

floor, truncate, ceil, round ?

I would assume rounding would be the most accurate, but I'm curious as it pertains to BJ in terms of index numbers and true count betting correlation.

FYI I do understand that if the index numbers were original generated using floor, then TC calculations must be done using floor. But when generating index numbers (i.e. using CVIndex) or knowing how much to bet, would rounding be the best option?

Thanks,

Truncating is the worst. Flooring and rounding are nearly equal with a very, very slight advantage to flooring. Everyone these days uses flooring. Personally, I use rounding.:)

You need not feel so alone.
