I have a Question, In Many Casinos Why does the dealer "Burn" or not play the first card of the shoe after shuffling and staritng the shoe?

So that you can't bet based on knowing what the top card is, because the card is marked.

I think it portrays an image of a fair game. Some dealears can do more with a deck of cards than a monkey can do with a coconut.

That would imply that, eventually, all the cards are marked lol.

They do it too when a new dealer comes in even though it's not the top of the shoe.

No idea exactly why. Procedure - whether it makes sense or not.

This dealer told me a couple days ago that she dealt to a guy a year or so ago that won $640,000 at a 10-1000 table for Spanish21. Apparently hitting $1000 suited matches like crazy. (Pays 12-1)

While she maintained that dealers weren't punished for dealing losses to the casino, nonetheless, she said she was taken off dealing Spanish21 for 6 months. She said the casino is superstitious and that's why she was taken off dealing Spanish21.

Yeah, right.

Pretty weird when u think about it.

The implication to me is that a dealer does not want to lose money during a shift.

Perhaps that explains why a few days ago 7 times in 3 hours the dealer took my tied bet. 5 of those 7 times he just put the bet back after I said "Whoa". 2 of those 7 times he called the boss over and said he made a mistake.

Talk about procedures - call the boss over every once in a while.

I just got the feeling that he was not that much of an incompetent dealer making honest mistakes. Others at the table experienced the same thing.

My wife cashed in $400 in chips at the cashier and just took the money. She is such a trusting soul. When she got to the room she had $300. We back-tracked finding (DUH :) ) no $100 bills along the way. Went to the cage, they counted her drawer, guess what, $100 over. Honest mistake apparently.

As I don't think she got fired because I saw her weeks later.

I'm not even including when dealer took everybody's cards quickly and I complained because she made an error, kindly put, in my payoff. They tried to re-create the first hand (you know how they pick up everyone's cards in a specific order for just that reason), couldn't do it after the first 2 cards (after the boss asked the dealer if that was her hand and she said no),
and declared everything null and void.

Hopefully, I just had an atypical experience at the Trump Marina in AC.

Is that place in bankruptcy again or only very near it?

And this dealer says, if u have any questions, she's happy to give advice.

Be careful out there lol.
