Hi - I am new. I am not a professional gambler...I don't even gamble very often, but when I do go, I enjoy blackjack and have been playing it for years. I'm not a card counter but I do understand basic strategy and pay some attention to what a shoe has been like....so as far as my card counting goes, I just pay enough attention to notice if a shoe has been heavy with 10's or heavy with little cards and I try and think about how many aces have come out as a shoe goes.
Here is my observation and question. In my years of playing blackjack, I have noticed that when myself or others at the table are having a good night, the cards seem to be pretty evenly distributed, so that there aren't big blocks of big cards or small cards...just a good mix of everything...the nights where I lose my ass (and it would seem everyone at the table) is when the bigs are clumped together and the littles are in big clumps. Everyone pushes 20's in the big clumps, and everyone either busts or the dealer makes hands on all the little cards....doubles never seem to work out in such situations. My question(s) 1. Am I just seeing something that isn't there or is this an observation shared by others ....and 2. If there is something to it...is there math behind it? On a particulary bad night the guy in the cash cage and I were talking and he heard several people making pretty much the same complaint.....bunch of big cards lumped together pushing 20's, big runs of small cards with dealer making hands....cash cage guy said that green dealers never wash the cards well and they stay in clumps....I'm interested to hear others thoughts on this.
