Red Seven

With the biggest commodity I know being "Information", does anyone have the index numbers for splitting 10's using Red Seven?

Thanks

No, sorry

But most authors strongly advise against splitting tens. This is a move that flags you as either a total beginner or a counter. As you're probably playing perfect basic strategy, they will quickly make their choice.

They can....

...red flag me all they want. Im betting red hit-n-run style with not much need for cover. I believe in playing and betting aggressively in short playing stints, and have always split 10's in the past to clear ploppys.

Suggested numbers from someone fimiliar with Red 7 would be great.

If Arnold Snyder is familiar enough for you...

... he comments on the advanced Red Seven playing strategy tables as follows:

"If there is no entry for a decision, then you should always use basic strategy. No pair split indices are provided because the gains are too small to bother with" (Blackbelt, 2nd Ed., page 49).

R7 indices are on Web

Blackbelt is partially published online w/ R7#s, but I don't know the URL. Anyone? zg

Splitting 10's

Splitting 10's is one of the more lucrative index plays, so good that I don't like giving it up. So I'll occasionally do it against a 6 at a lower count, especially being I sidecount aces and a high ace density is a great time to do it. That can throw them off. You don't end up doing it more than once a night anyway, usually, and if you get to that point your probably having a good night, so after splitting 10's be a good time to take a break and play somewhere else.

Unless...

Unless the web version is more complete than the paper version, it won't help. I have verified in Blackbelt and the split indices are not given (see quotation in my above answer).

R7 indicies are on web

Zg gave them to me a few years back. However, a hard disk crash made them go bye-bye.

Thanks anyways.

Red7 Indicies

GG,

I avoid splitting 10's but will check the indice when I get home for you.

This is true.

except for TT vs 5,6 !!

IF you look at the I18, you will see they are around the 4th or 5th most profitable play you can make. When Don S. first created the I18 he was orignally going to call it the Sweet 16 and not include the two 10 split plays. I guess Peter Griffen convinced him to let the math do the talking so he included them.

Sometimes splitting 10s in a negative count early (with minimum bet out) gets you labeled "stupid ten splitter" and is a small cover price to pay to get heads up (the ploppies don't like playing with some one who splits 10s) and being able to profitable split 10s in high counts with no heat.

Exactly my strategy!

Where I play normally, you could sit and read a Snyder book at the table and nobody would care, nor recognize the name. But I also give myself some 10 splitting cover by splitting occasionally at lower TC. Being I sidecount Aces that gives me a little more info as to when is a good time to do it, and it shuts the ploppies up real quick when I draw an Ace to a split 10.
