Rules question

Hi, I'm new to blackjack and have never actually been to a casino being underage. (Me and a friend just thought it'd be cool to learn to count). Anyway, one of my older friends who does play in casinos told me about a rule where if the dealer has a 6 or lower up card they must hit twice, no matter what. I'm wondering if anyone's come across this rule, maybe it's some kind of variation I haven't heard of? Thanks.

Usually if the dealer has 6 or lower, he has to hit twice (unless it's A6 where dealer stands) since the dealer stands on 17 or more.

Is that including the hole card as a hit?
Putting it that way; yes. But for the sake of a blackjack discussion, especially on this board; you do NOT count the hole card as a HIT, and it SHOULD be expressed THIS way:

If the dealer has a 6 or less showing, he HAS to hit at LEAST once; with one POSSIBLE exception - if the rules require the dealer to stand on soft 17, and he has an ace in the hole, he WON'T hit.

Bear in mind that the terminology that your friend is using is confusing and is not really the proper semantics for a blackjack discussion.
