Saving 1/2 a mil

After visiting one of the big stores recently, I learned something new. Instead of changing the cards, they now count them down.
When I asked what that meant I was told that they no longer change the cards every day, but count down the number of cards to make sure they are all there. Even the table closed during off peak hours used the cards from the prior day.
The key word here is the "Commissioner" said as long as the cards were in good shape they could be used for days. Commissioner of a self regulated tribal gaming commission?

The floor manager told me this will save the casino half a million dollars a year.

If this trend continues I wonder which card manufacturer will be filing for bankruptcy protection first?

I know when I was playing at Paris, the drunk woman at 3rd place spilt her drink twice on the discards... all they did is went through the discards, and replaced those that were damaged.

What I don't understand is why don't casinos use plastic cards like in poker. they can be used for long periods of timeif maintained properly.

I was hoping no one would turn on the light bulb. Maybe this is something that should be removed or that I had never been brought out in public?

Moderators, your thoughts on removal?

I don’t think this thread is a threat to any opportunities. It is vague enough that it doesn’t discuss any specific weaknesses or any specific casinos. I’m sure the pit critters already know that reusing cards can be dangerous and they have decided to take that risk. I wish them the best of luck with that decision.
