security guard

If you are getting kicked out of a casino for card counting and the security guard asks for your id do you have to show it to them?

Has anyone here actually done that? Refuse to give a "SECURITY GUARD" your id. If so, what happened next?
Yes. I have been removed from a game by security 3 times, and they demanded ID twice. I gave it to them once, because I knew they already had a copy of my ID info when I got a player's card there.

The time I was asked and refused, I was just walked to a cashier's cage and out the door.

You guys who play in remote Indian joints, be very careful of these guys as you have no recourse if they physically abuse you. American criminal law applies on reservations but civil suits against the casino do not.

I knew you didn't have to show it to a pit boss, but a security guard I didn't know. When Scott and I got kicked out the security guards were the ones that did it and they asked for our ids and I said, "We don't have to show it to you." and then they said, "Yah you do." So we showed them our ids and they escorted us to our car so they could write down our licsence plate (we think). So you are saying we didn't have to show them our ids. It didn't seem like they were going to take no for an answer. Also did we have to show them our car?

Just tell them you don't have any on you.Its not illegal(yet) to enter a casino without id.Unless they suspect you of a crime, they can't detain you.
They can,and will follow you to your car and write down your plates.

I wouldn't had shown them my ID, but it didnt matter since they knew who we were. We both signed up for players cards with real info. And they know us by sight so it does no good to refuse to show in that situation, since we knew we werent coming back for a while.

It was an Indian joint, but I think they are pretty nice. I never felt like anything would happen if I refused to cooperate. In fact I came back to the casino the next week and asked if I could play poker and they said no problem.

I would say they may have thought you were underage in your case..

It depends if you are under arrest or not. If you are then they will check your ID. If you are not under arrest you don't have to show anyone anything and are free to leave. Technically this goes for police too...but if you tried that one they would probably create a reason to arrest you.:gun: I know this is how it works in my area and most around it.

Police and Peace officers can detain and handcuff you without arresting you.
Often,in a bar fight for example, they will handcuff multiple individuals before trying to get to the source of the problem. If they feel you are a threat to themselves, yourself,or the peace, they can detain you without placing you under arrest.
I have no idea if that applies to security guards. I'd imagine it varies widely from one jurisdiction to another. In AC,security guards can detain you if they believe you are gambling underage,or cheating.

No, they requested the IDs as they were barring us. They probably wanted our info for future reference, and didnt want to look it up using surveilance.

They said they needed to send in "info" about us and they would get back to us and let us know if we could come back. They havn't replied, and I don't think they ever will.
