Seethrough Shoe

Just went out to do a bit at a casino near to me... scoped the tables.... easy enough to see penetration as all the shoes are transparent/see through plastic.. not the usual solid black I'm used to.

Noticed that ALL decks were at approx 66% pen... and wondered if the purpose of the clear shoe is so that sky/pit critter can check that the dealer pen. is regulation at any point?

Anyhow.. no good for me. 66% on a 6 deck shoe is not really cutting it. To top it off.. asked if they had Spanish 21 to which the dealer said 'what's that?' :joker:

Re - someone on here talked about 'was my photo taken?' I have major inside info that in one of my local casinos there is a scheme to match up people who have a players card with a surveillance photo. Apparently my source had seen a few of these and they are as clear as a passport photo! Not sure if this is every player or just suspect/big players.. but certainly the framework and technology is there to do this... so why wouldn't they? Beware!

Its much harder to guess the penetration through the shoe as the cards are slanted sideways. Watching them put the cut card in before the shoe begins is usually more accurate.

i agree entirely, i have noted penetration many times upon the insertion of the cut card only to notice how different it apears when slanted in the shoe.

Not only that...

One place I play has cut cards that are slightly smaller than the regular cards, so once they're in the shoe you can't see where the cut card is.

Judging pen from seeing the cut card in the shoe is no different from judging it when the card is inserted into the decks. It's a learned skill lthat takes some practice.

Just watch the card being inserted, then look at it when in the shoe. You'll learn how to correlate the two.
