Seminole Hard Rock in Tampa is now open. They have three persons to each BJ table (with plexiglass inbetween players.) Every other slot is turned off, giving more social distancing between players, as well. They are also wiping surfaces on an ongoing basis.

What are they doing with the chips at the BJ table? Can you be paid the chips that someone else just lost (and touched)?

What are they doing with the chips at the BJ table?

This came up in the latest GWAE. Gues was the CM at Southpoint. He described all the right things they are doing in terms of spacing, alternate machines turned off, 3 players max per BJ table, etc. The one thing they have no solution how to handle is chips.

Mohegan Sun has invited 4000 VIPs to a soft opening tomorrow. Governor Lamont was already upset about the June 1st opening and is not happy being defied again. Sovereign nation.

Good to know. I’m not a VIP. I been to either the 31 or 33rd floor to eat but it was a one or twice thing.

The casinos should try double trays for the dealers.
One tray holds lost chips from all players, and is removed when full. The second tray dispenses buy in's and wins only. When a player colors up, his used chips are exchanged for clean ones, and the other "dirty chips" are placed in the "lost hand" tray. Now the player goes to another table, sits down and converts his chips for clean ones at the start of another session. The casino would place all dirty chips into cleaning machines (?) and they become cleaned and ready for use. The cages would also place their cash-in chips into separate bins and be treated for cleaning once again. OR
As for dealer protection, N-95 masks and surgical gloves would be used. Since a dealer would touch dirty and clean chips both, the casino would have to have two dealers per table; one dealer to handle only dirty chips, and another to handle only clean chips.
The casino should create digital touch consoles for players to operate at the tables. It would be cleaned between players. OR
Each want-to-be player enters a two week quarantine before siting at a table. OR
Each player is hooked up to O2 and is instructed in PPE use.

As for cards... Oh jeez, my head is beginning to hurt. Nevermind.

This is a decent idea but seems really hard to implement and subject to a lot of theft. Dealers could instead use separate rows for collected vs. paid chips, or divide them with lammers. A real PITA no matter what though.

I expect a rapid adoption of electronic/ticket based wagering, at least until they find out how much the table players hate it.

They're open. Foxwoods table games were open in the Pequot Casino only. This includes the Newport Room. They have installed plexiglass barriers and allow a maximum of 3 players at each table.

Mohegan Sun had table games in the Casino of the Earth and the Casino of the Sky. There are no barriers installed. They also have a 3 player limit. I did notice a craps table that was jammed elbow to elbow with players. So much for social distancing.

Both casinos have temperature scanners that you don't even notice and both provide masks to those without. They should come with instructions. For whatever reason, many do not cover their noses. Mohegan Sun claims to sanitize chips in the cage.

The problem that will arise will be players waiting for a seat. The aisles behind the tables are already way too crowded with people bumping into one another. Some kinks for sure.

Lots of New York and New Jersey license plates along with the usual New England states. They couldn't wait to get here.

No 6 to 5 tables were open at either casino but they are still there. It was early on a weekday. Wait until the weekend.

The casinos are going to do what the Federal Reserve did with cash. Nothing.....

They aren’t sanitizing paper money.
$1,5,20,50 or hundred dollar bills.

Those chips are being touched by everyone.
So wash your hands with soap and hot water. You will limit your risk.
