Shut up and deal

It's bad enough when idiots give out wrong advice, but when a dealer does it...SHUT UP AND DEAL! Many dealers won't offer up any advice even when asked by newbies, etc., and with good reason. But fellas, doesn't it suck when you are second-guessed by a dealer who apparently is as ignorant as many players?

I split 2's vs. a 3 (I was the last player)...got 14 on the first one, had 12 on the second, hit and caught a 7...the dealer had a 4 in the hole, got a 10 for 17, a couple of other players lost and she tells me "I would have broke...you were supposed to stay"! :flame: It wouldn't have been as bad had she just said something like "HAD you stayed", etc. but the way she said I was "supposed" to stay really burned me up.

Of course every other player had been making ignorant plays and she never said a word to them, so I couldn't resist, I say to her "I'll ask you the same question I ask players who give out unasked for advice...what's your secret?". She fell for it, asked me what secret was that, and I said "The secret to knowing what cards are coming out next?". She called me a smart ass and I told her just to deal the damn cards, etc. etc. I wish a pit boss had been listening in...of course, had one been, she wouldn't have given me a hard time.

She was one of the worst dealers I've run across lately...flinging the cards at us, flinging chips, dealing super fast - and once she hit T5, got an Ace...and starts to take chips from players who stayed with a stiff hand. At least she did bust.

You know, if she had been second guessing others, I would almost have expected her to say something, but she hadn't, and that really pissed me off.

That was a very nasty dealer:eek: I have ran into more than a few like that.

Most likely she is having a very hard time in her personal life and it shows at work. One time the dealer, a female, was doing nearly the same as yours.:( I left the table and commented about it to a pit boss, a while later the dealer found me on the floor and apologized. I am sure she just had some problems, did not want to be at work that day, and I probably made it worse. I felt bad about that afterwards and I hope to this day things worked out for her and she is happy. Best in those situations to just leave the table if it gets to the point you cannot deal with it.

Thanks for sharing the story.

Sounds like a great dealer to me. These kind of dealers make errors that swing both ways. Catch the ones that favor the house and let the others slide. More hands per hour is a great thing if you have the edge. Also, her nasty attitude may drive the ploppies away at an opportune time.

I would never let this kind of dealer get under my skin, and I'd take advantage of the situation to the fullest.

Walk

Ususally if i get a miserable or mean dealer i just flat out walk away. I dont care how good the cout is or anything like that, I go to the casinos to make money but i also enjoy playing blackjack and its fun to me. No amount of money is worth me messing up the good time i am having or putting myself in a bad mood. My recomendation is forget them just as fast as you meet them and walk away, there are plenty of tables in a casino. Plus it makes it more difficult to concentrate when you are annoyed or upset why puy your $$$$ in danger.

takinfromindians97 is right.

I remember recently seeing a dealer in Mississippi telling some clueless locals
that they want to stand on their stiffs when he, the dealer, shows an
8 or a 9 "because the dealer breaks the most when showing an 8 or a 9."

I kid you not.

That is what he said.

dealer pie holes

Don't get me started on idiot dealers that know everthing. I had a dealer that was so intent on exposing me as a counter that one hand after another he was screwing up and not in our favor. We had to constantly correct his stupid mispays and removals of winning hands. I finally had to tell him to concentrate on learining to deal and paying first then try to figuire out how to play the game. They did take him off the bj tables after awhile and stuck him in let it ride and texas hold em tables for a long time. blackchipjim
