By definition, what is a pushed hand?

You split 9-9
one 9 is a winner
one 9 is a loser

Most players would say:

'win one / lose one = push' ?

or is a push only when players hand is equal to the dealer's hand ?

By DEFINITION, a push is a hand which is equal to the dealer's hand. The situation which you describe is what's known as "one hand pays the other". Moneywise, it works out to be the same as a push, which is why players seem to have a habit of using the term incorrectly.

Even though it's TECHNICALLY wrong to call it a push, IMO you'd be pretty much nit-picking if you were to correct someone. And nobody likes a nit-picker.

You pushed on your original hand. You had a bet up, got dealt two nines, split them, won one, lost one, and recieved your original bet back. Thats a push in my books, especially since you rarely get any credit for your extra wagers.

If you bet $25 with a $1 toke for the dealer, split your nines, bet another $25 and dollar for the dealer. Win one, lose one. YOU push--dealer wins $1.

Dealer gets $2.
