Single and Double Deck

I live in the Northwest and have been counting shoe games using the Hi Lo count and the Illustrious 18 part time by myself for a few years and had some success. I have been debating taking a couple months off from my day job in an attempt to make some real money. I will most likely switch to a Hi Opt 1 count, side count aces and vary my strategy a little to play single and double deck games. I have read various books on the subject and this seems like the best route to go to receive the biggest advantage as well as lower my ROR. Anyone have any advice or tips?? Have you done this? Are there any decent single or double deck games around?? It seems the 6/5's are spreading like the plague.
Thanks

Keep the day job

that IS real money you can count on as well as credits for SS etc.

The fact that you have to ask the questions you have tells me you are far from ready.

I do wish you the best.

If you had a large enough bankroll to comfortably replace a day job's income while maintaining an acceptable risk of ruin, you probably would already have enough cash laying around to where you wouldn't be too worried about "making some real money". In a way, you have to appreciate the irony.

I would advise against learning the Hi-Opt I system. It is a good system, especially for pitch games, but it is more difficult and less versatile than Hi Lo. You already have experience with a very powerful system and some indices. Stick with it. The counting system you use is not nearly as important as the way you use it and the games you play. In most cases the counting system is completely insignificant.

There are still some good SD and DD games around but you will have to travel quite a bit to find them. Travel expenses (flights, rental car, hotel rooms, meals, etc.) will eat up your profit very quickly. I would suggest scouting all of your local casinos to find the best games and coming up with a plan to beat them. Build up your bankroll and earn some comps first. That will save you a lot of time and money.

Great FeedBack. Thank You. I will keep that all in mind. Definately agree about the travel cost. That has been the only downfall I can see. The best game I can find within driving distance of me is DD DA2 DAS hit H17 NS but the spread and penatration isn't consistant also I have been getting the stink eye. As far as the Hi Opt I count, I haven't had any problems learning it and the extra $ per hour is what appeals to me.
Thanks Again
