Single deck: two cards totalling 10 versus an Ace

I believe that most versions of basic strategy suggest that you hit.

However it seems to me that if you double you may do better, particularly since you know that the dealer does not have a ten-value hole card.

I'd like to know what the general consensus is here.

Maybe someone has done the math???

All accurate versions of basic strategy say hit.
And yes, we've all done the math.
Doubling 10vA will make money, but you'll make more than 3 times as much by just hitting.

10 vs Ace!

Why do you not double on 10 vs an ace after the dealer has checked for a blackjack? One Reason you don't double with an ace is that if you catch a low card like a 5 the rules prohibit you from taking another card. Another reason especially in hit soft 17 games the dealer will end up with a really strong hand that will beat your hand a lot. Does anybody know the dealer probility for hit soft 17 with an ace showing how often he will make 17 18 ect all the way through 21. I only know he will bust around 20% of the time and the amount of 17's is greatly reduced.
