Single Deck Update

Last year the only SD (obviously excluding 6-5) was at:
El Cortez-4 tables
Western-2 tables
4 Queens-2 tables ($10 minimum)

Any changes?

Single deck is starting to make a little bit of a comeback. Flash is correct Binions also has two tables and there is also the Vegas Club. If you are heading out to the Hoover Dam the Hacienda now has a single deck game as well.

IF I managed a casino I would put in Single Deck BJ Tables with H17, NDAS, rule of 6, 3:2 BJ premiums, and $10 minimums and $200 maximums.

If that cannot bring players back, what will ?

The economic meltdown, the so-called experts generally believe will last for several years.

What choice do the casino's have? Sit back and snidely continue to degrade their games, or make a change for the good ?

Under current economic conditions, casinos could change the payouts tp 2-1 for BJ and they still won't attract the crowds they were getting back when people had jobs, went to Vegas for trade shows, ect, ect.

Seriously, how many tourist do you think decided to not go to Vegas because casinos switched to hitting soft 17?
When the economy improves and people aren't afraid to spend money, the shitty BJ tables will be just as filled as they were three years ago.

I imagine that upwards of 5% know that H17 is disadvantageous, but far far less than 1% know the extent to which they are being victimized !

Here's a brain tweaker. How about SD, S17, DOA, LS, Ro8, 7:5 BJ? Looks like it could still ripoff the ploppies while making it profitable to competent CC's.

Not the ones that work downtown. Although I notcied that many of the downtown properties have started using "tit pits" to get people in. It seems to be working.

Are the dealers comparable in skill to the ones on the Strip (i.e. hired for their looks, not their abilities)? I've been giving some thought to trying SD and DD games in Vegas on my next trip. If there's a decent SD/DD game with underskilled dealers, I might revoke my personal policy of "there's nothing worth making the trip Downtown."

The dealers all have a basic level of competence but they often don’t have much experience or confidence. They're also good for distracting surveillance in more ways than one. The tit pits are usually shoe games but there are still opportunities to take advantage of the dealers in many ways. Downtown has some great games for red/green players if you don’t mind doing a lot of scouting.

Actually there are some very good opportunities downtown, sometimes you've got to think outside the box!

I don't question that there are some very good opportunities downtown, I just don't know whether it's worth my (me, personally) time. I usually stay on the Strip and the primary purpose of the vacation is to see my college friends; I usually wake up earlier than they do, so a lot of my card counting is done in the mornings while waiting for them to get up.

Taking a trip downtown would probably mean intentionally waking up early and paying for solo cab fare just to scout. If I wanted to visit the tit pits, I'd probably have to convince my friends to take a trip at night. Most of them count cards (or counted at one point) and could probably be convinced, but it would probably have to involve a combination of (a) boobage greater than or equal to that on the Strip , plus (b) better EV, either better rules or more dealer mistakes.
