Situations where the dealer is more likely to make an error!

When a player has a 4 or 5 card hand the dealer is far more likely to screw up that hand and make a missed payout than a 2 or 3 card hand. A dealer is also more likely to make a mistake on a full table than a heads up table. The first couple of people might win there hands and the dealer might get into payout mode and pay somebody he shouldn't have by mistake especially if he or she is a new dealer. The same is true if he beat the first couple of players he might take your money when he shouldn't have taken your money if this happens to you speak up immediately.

Greetings,

I was at a table playing heads up with a new dealer, I won the hand, she paid me. I collected my winnings, a pit boss grabbed her attention and they talked for about a minute. She then turned back around and paid me a 2nd time and then collected the cards that had been dealt out.

I believe it was the pitboss who was at fault, he should have waited till she was done, and it did not occur to me she had already paid me, till we started a new hand. I then began to wonder if I could have got into any kind of trouble. I just know the PB was very annoying, I signal I wanted a hit and he just kept getting her attention in his never ending conversation.

When the dealer's just had a bollocking for being late, cocking up or whatever and the pit boss is breathing down their neck, this is a fine time for plenty of errors.

I love when a pit critter engages a dealer in conversation. Also, I have a loudmouth female friend who doesn't play BJ but likes to watch. She'll chat the dealers to death. Increases dealer error rate ever so slightly. Also, added benefit since I am still somewhat of a novice, slows the dealer down if they're fast. I know, we want more hands per hour, give me a break my skills aren't there yet :)

At the joint i was at last weekend, there was a sticky dealing shoe which made things oh so easy. I know someday I'll want that speed, but not yet

Be particularly careful when your pat hand is only 1 different from the dealer's pat hand. Especially when the table has a bunch of pat hands like 17, 19, 17, 18, 19 and the dealer has 18 - I find that most dealer mistakes happen in situations like that.

Blackjack pays 3-1

In a casino where dealers keep their own tokes, a high roller with 2 bets of $1,000 and a $50 bet for the dealer in front of each bet is at third base.
I have a $200 bet at first base, get a blackjack, get paid and the dealer takes my cards and moves on to the high roller's hands. Based upon his hands I raise my bet to $300. The dealer busts, pays the high roller and herself and then looks to me and pays me again. $600 blackjack on a $200 bet, not bad.

I think the fact that in a house where dealers keep their own, the fact that she made $200 on the hand got her excited, happy and in a pay everyone mood.
