Sleeping with the enemy

I wonder if it is almost easier to kind of build comfort with the pit and almost be like a real promoter of the game. Playing third base usually and making those great call the table loves; you can almost work both sides of the street.

You are not making tons; and they know you are savvy to the count, you make a couple hundred in the night and the table brings in 2,000 from the ploppers with money to burn, who cares.

I think there is alot to be gained from being a wild and crazy fun guy to be around. I have seen my play draw people in before, they think the man at 3rd has magical powers and can make the dealer break. Alot rides on the decisions of third base in many peoples minds.

We all know management and our tribe will always walk seperate ways but is it not within both our best interests to work together if possible. It is not like I am thinking of cheating the players either, they are having a blast and always love a loud, funny talented third baseman. I can be the life of the party and the grand they though away was well worth their fun.

I found that making comments to the pit like "ooh, lucky cards might be on the way for me... maybe I'll add an extra chip or two" can help to make them think I'm a mug rather than an AP. And if I'm playing very low limit, I might put in the odd bad play like hitting 14 against a 6, just to support their idea that I'm some sort of idiot. So that seems to be a good decoy (for me at least).

I've noticed that our local casinos love chinese gamblers - they always seem to rely on "luck" to get them through - VERY few Chinese gamblers that I've ever seen receive casino "heat" as much as I have in the past... or is this just coincidental?

It all depends on the situation. Ian Anderson wrote about this "Ultimate Gambit" where you make friends with the casino management, even to the point of buying them gifts. There's a place for that. Around here the casinos are so large and impersonal there's no call for that really, and when you get down to AC there's so little margin to spare I can't afford to be anything but a predator ape- waiting for an opportunity and taking maximum advantage of it, then moving on without saying a word.

If I'm playing in, for example, the northern states where people are very gentle and sociable and a person who isn't stands out, I become more of a circus monkey with clowning around and interacting with players and pit. The games are better there too so it's worth it to make the extra effort for cover.

Where do you play?

That's a very expensive playing mistake. There are other playing mistakes that are cheaper.

As much as I hate to encourage stereotypes, I'd agree. Including the guy I saw with the ultimate camouflage.

I like being an interactive player with the dealer and pit critters as well...don't think I go as far as being the "wild and crazy guy", but I see where you are going with this. I've got no problem clapping up some dealer busts, making "hunch" statements here and there, and swigging down a couple 7 & 7's along the way. I can handle my drinks, so a couple ain't gonna phase me. :joker:

Whether the house has a preconceived concept of a card counter being a intensely-focused introvert with big bet spreads, I dunno. But I figure that at least some personality might help with that. If not, oh well. That's how I am any d*mn way, so what's there to lose?!? :whip:

All right! Rules for SD in Wendover:

You always want exactly two hands in the game, even if they are both yours, for max penetration.

Never play with more than 3 hands in the game.

RO7 pen (hands in game plus number of rounds per deck =7) is the gold mine in SD. If you are getting only RO5, or if, God forbid, you are getting deeper pen in bad counts than in good ones, leave. Shopping around for the RO7 is worth it. Tipping the dealer for RO7 is worth it.

Heat is low everywhere except the Nugget. Don't be greedy. Get a players card for the Peppermill properties, as the comps are worth it.

Table comportment: you can be friendly to fit in, but being you can't play at a crowded table you won't have much chance for player interaction. You're better off pissing people off so they leave and you can get more rounds in.

Watch out for the cops on the main street, they will get you.

The strip joint in town is totally lame, don't even bother.

So you play two hands all the time if heads up for better pen?

Why would the cops nail me, I am clean?

Yes. The difference in EV is significant.

Oh so am I, I just tend to drive fast. A speeding ticket is a couple of black chips. Fortunately I talked my way out of it.

BTW, I am disappointed that this thread has not yet involved any actual sleeping with enemies.
You mean f-f-f-fornication? Not me, I don't date outside of my species!

Besides, what if she thinks you're lousy? That could get you banned even quicker than a huge spread.

Has anybody here ever slept with a boss or a dealer? Waitresses don't really count, 'cause they're not the enemy.
