Specks Parsons

My favorite pseudonym of Mr. Revere is Specks Parsons. I don't recall which book mentioned that name, but it is one of them. All I know is he was "ahead of his time". He had a "feel" for the game that led to some great systems. He was also a bit of a con-man from what I've read. He would invite people into his realm to teach them how to play, then hustle their money away. He and Humble also had quite a battle over who's system was better.

Re: Good Q

Humble and Revere had a falling out of some sort over who knows what. Me and ZG have had ours, and I see them happening right now with the other players online. I think ZG is old enough to have actually met LR. Check the first 30 or so messages at the CCC. ZG intro's himself there.

Per the reports Lawrence Revere was a true character. An early counter; his real name was Spec Parsons. He reportedly did some less than forthright things like giving private lessons and telling people that they were no good in order to keep his fees coming. You can find stories about him spriknled throughout the literature.

wong out - (no I never met him - before my time)

Lance Humble's "The World's Greatest Blackjack Book" has some interesting stuff about Revere. See pages 283-289.

Re: Good Q

I think even Spec P is an alias. A good card sharp and a better con man? Some men just can't help but cross that fine line for that extra dollar.
