Spread dilema

Okay so I am betting two hands at $20 each and dropping to one on negative counts.

That would mean if I win both hands on my first round and one was doubled I would have to pull back as I could never have more than $80 total on the table at any one time.

One thing I am doing to improve my cover is eating at little negative ev when the count drops after a big win instead of pulling the whole thing back down.

I think I may have pushed my spread a little maybe to 1-6 at times recently so I suppose I better watch that, is that 1-4 pretty much written in stone for all the time or can you push it a little now and then say once in a session for a couple hands? I suppose it is a question of heat.

This is a very good profit increasing tactic and i use it as well.

Typically when i rais my bet i keep two stacks of red chips totalling all the money i need for one bet size, and two stacks of green chips i need for my next bet size. When i want to make the higher bets i just act all nervous and push all the chips of one color into the two circles.

I spread to 20:1 on three hands before at a ten dollar table, i seriously thought the floorpersons head was going to explode as he was so dumbfounded he just didnt knwo what to do, his eyes just opened and his jaw dropped, he smiled at my nervous crackhead like compulsion and walked away.

I think there comes a point where you are betting so much that they think
your just crazy, so long as you look like your crazy. I typically knock my chips around in a "drunken stupor" or shake back and forth like a crack head and watch my stack of chips like its my freiking life on the line. as all my chips are in the circle at the time.

A 1-4 spread makes me believe you are playing single deck. The people who write books will say that 1-4 is all you need on single deck to get a decent enough edge and that is true, but that does not mean you can not spread more if opportunity is there.
Your ability to read the heat level and tolerance level of any given casino becomes very important in doing this if keeping their door open is important to you. Also a big spread can often be done shortly before you plan to be out the door anyway.

Your act, perhaps especially a good steaming act after a tough loss or a couple of losses, can get you a huge spread for a hand or two in single deck often without any heat and a pit noting you as a compulsive.
