This was my third visit to Sugarhouse. I thought after a week and a half that things might be slower on a cold rainy weekday afternoon. Not the case. You low limit players will not like this report, I am afraid. There were 10 tables open on the main floor, which is all of the blackjack tables they have on the main floor. 4 were $25 minimum tables, 2 CSM, 2 hand shuffled and 6 were hand shuffled, $50 minimums. All were completely full, with people waiting for a seat. I managed to get a seat at a $50 table and while the rules and penetration aren't bad, (actually very good for east coast BJ) the game crawls with slow dealers and full tables. Probably 40ish hands per hour. No possibility of wonging in with full tables and while you may be able to wong out of a few hands for a bathroom break or phony phone call, there is no possibility of table hopping or playing a hit and run style.
As I said, they are now allowing surrender, but you are going to get an arguement from most of the ploppies, who being east coasters aren't that familar with surrender and think tossing in your hand is a horrendous play, which greatly affects the sacred flow. Funny, yet frustrating at the same time.
While the BJ rules are better than most games in AC and elsewhere on the east coast, this location is not big enough nor has enough tables and/or spots for the million plus people in the immediate area. It certainly doesn't work for me and my style of play.
