Team Play? How is it done/ anyone have experience?

I'm assuming this is what MIT did or does when they hit Vegas. I'm just curious what it takes to make team play work and has anyone here tried it? Were you successful or not. and any other words of wisdom you have for me.

My current knowledge, which is based on broad assumptions and limited reading about the topic, is that you need about 4 or 5 counters.

Was curious, I know MIT used hi / low with true count conversions, but say we use the BP technique I think it's called, Have 4 counters, at 4 diff tables, have the big player wandering aimlessly until he finds a 'lucky' table which one of his 4 counters has signaled him to and he max bets until the count drops below the pivot, then gets up and wanders to another 'lucky' table.

I think thats a pretty accurate descrition of the idea.
I'm wondering, if you are doing it with 4 counters and 1 bp, and the counters are playing BS, do they also ramp their bets as if they were counting by themselves and not participating in team play, or do they flatbet the min always? Also say the table max is 20 units and the table min is 1, how profitable is playing this way projected to be?

Another thought is, the casino I frequent has a highstakes section with the biggest spread of 25min 500max. If someone could find a spot to backcount that table, and signal in the BP to sit and max bet the high count then leave if it dropped. How profitable coud this be?

Finally, for anyone with experienced team play, or ideas on how it works: What is a way to signal your BP to hop into the table? I'm thinking a text msg via his cell phone could work, but if survailance is reviewed you could get caught.

With this BP technique, if the max bet is always 20 units, how many units should the BP have, in case of variance, and to be successful?

Each with 5K+... and NO "MIT-style" division of labor. each plays seperately to the combined BR. zg

You have a basic idea how team play works using the BP method but I must caution you that you should be well funded to play this way. A key point with this type of play is to have your spotters flat bet below the teams unit size. Meaning for optimal play the spotters combined flat bets would still be less than the BP's 1 unit bet. A way around this is to have spotters just backcount and not even play, but that is not always practical in some casino conditions. You may be able to do a mixture of both to keep the betting to a minimum during negative counts, but than again it depends on what your bankroll can handle. It makes no sense if the spotters combined betting is greater than the BP's, or even if it just greatly reduces the bet spread you will playing a weak game. There is the option suggested by zengrifter of playing seperately with a combined bankroll, which gives you the opportunity to play with a bigger bankroll. The problem is there needs to be a huge element of trust in your players abilities and in just their overall honesty. You need that in any team situation, but more so when others will be playing with what was once your money. In this case you must resign yourself to the fact that it is the teams money and not yours, and be willing to accept losses of it even if you were not playing. If possible, a good way to play this way is with investor money outside of the players money. It still takes a good deal of trust, but it takes the personal feelings of loss out of it. The bottom line with any team play is make sure your own play and the play of your teamates are up to par before you think of forming any kind of team.
