Thievery at the table

I took the last seat at a popular table. The lady next to me played a few hands, then left for the restroom. When she returned, she announced that her wallet was missing and that it must have fallen or been stolen when she got up from the table. This made me nervous as h___ since I was the last person to come to the table and I sat directly next to her. Paranoid as I am anyway, I checked all my pockets fearing that it might have been a scam of some kind and that the wallet was slipped into my pocket. No, it wasn't, thank God. The lady went to security, and I felt for hours like I might be monitored by casino security. But I remained at the table and am glad that I did, since I won $925 during this session. Anyone else run into anything like this? I imagine there is more than their share of thievery in most casinos.

About a year ago, similar thing happened at a table I was playing (at your favorite place.) PC called security to take a statement and they said they would review surveillance tapes to see if they could find anything.

I was waiting for that, but nothing further happened after the lady left. people around the table said they saw her using her wallet while at the table to buy chips.

BTW, see your private messages.

Several years ago at Trump Plaza,I was playing next to a woman whose pocketbook was stolen from under her seat. Security seemed unconcerned and appeared bothered to even make out a report.I told her she should call the AC police and security got up in my face, telling me to butt out.

Thievery

I was walking into the hotel portion of a casino/hotel in KC.

A man was being escorted out of the hotel for being disorderly. Another guest told me the guy was being unruly after having his hotel room burglarized. The reason the guest got upset was the police told the guest that they could do nothing about the burglary since the cops think the guest left his door open?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Open or not it is still a burglary, right?

I do not blame this guy for getting mad.

I turned around and walked out since an employee at the hotel seemingly was robbing guests.

True, if someone takes your property without your permission it is theft and the police have a duty to investigate. Can't jump to blame the hotel employees though.

What may have happened is the guy lost all his money in the casino and the police don't believe he really was ripped off. They might have thought he was trying to create a cover story for his losses or trying to get the hotel to give him some of it back.

Just a possibility. I got a similar attitude from a motel in Nevada where my laptop got ripped off. Casinos and non-gamers tend to think of gamers as weak and degenerate people, and harbor a quiet lack of respect for us (especially when we lose).

I was playing blackjack at the Claridge when this guy was no joke "running for his life". He hopped down an escalator in a few steps and bolted out the door. Apparently some guy left his jacket at the slots and he got a little curious hoping to find some extra cash when the guy came back...ha...and he actually got away from security.
