TR points/comps

Hey all. I apologize if this has been discussed already, but I couldn't find a past thread that answered my question.

Generally, I use my TR card whenever I play since the comps aren't too bad. I usually play once a week at the $25 level. However, this past Sunday I was out with a group of friends and wasn't planning on making a trip to the casino. Since the banks were closed, I did not have access to my normal BR I would use. Additionally, the casinos do not offer markers, and I am not set up with "check-cashing" privileges. So, I was stuck with a smaller than normal BR due to account withdrawal limits through an ATM. We decided to play at a $10 game for the next few hours, which has a slightly higher casino edge compared to the $25 tables ($10 has H17, $25 has S17). The session resulted in a small win, but I also thought I'd be earning more TR base points for my play. Granted, my minimum bet was lower than normal, but I wasn't always playing $10, and frequently had larger bets when the PB came to rate bets.

I went online to reserve a comped room this week and noticed my base points had dropped by 100 compared to the previous week. I thought the base points continued to accumulate as long as you continued playing? Is this normal for your base points to drop if you play a lower minimum than normal??

Additionally, despite the lower minimum bets, shouldn't I have at least earned some base points since the game had a higher casino edge than what I normally play ($10 - .66%; $25 - .44%)?

Perhaps I just don't have a solid understanding of how the TR system works...

Lastly, since the casinos do not offer markers, should I sign up for check-cashing privileges? Would this provide an increase in comps, as having a credit-line usually does?

Thanks!

That's bizarre even for Total Rewards. You may want to talk with the booth or with a host. There are some excellent old threads on Total Rewards with tons of information. Do a search. Basically, you're better off playing rated only when you're playing at your highest stakes. Playing on a card at lower stakes, or presenting a card for ANY reason when you don't have much play for the day, drags down your rated average and really hurts your comps.
