Transporting your bankroll

OK now I have a positive problem. I'm going to the casino with between $5K and $10K and the cash is starting to present a security problem. Part of the problem is I'm pretty good with my fists, and if robbed that amount of money might tempt me to do something stupid and I might lose more than my bankroll. I don't want to get involved with markers and check cashing privileges at casinos because that involves giving them my Social Security number and all kinds of scrutiny.

What would work well is an ATM card that allows me to withdraw a few thousand at a time. Does anyone know of such a bank? Or any other way to efficiently transfer sums like this. Thanks.

You may want to buy one of the jewlers pouches Mr. Wong is selling on bj21. I am approaching higher-level play myself and I plan to buy one very soon.

I have always carried a fake wallet in Las Vegas. I used to keep scraps of paper in it instead of money(sometimes with 'creative' messages written on them), but now I keep a $20 bill and a few ones in it to passify any potential perp.

My brokerage firm has an Amex gold card linked to my account with which I can withdraw large amounts of cash straight from the account. I suspect that other brokerage firms (who would want to keep >$10k in a bank account bearing 1% interest?) offer similar cards.

Additionally, it is useful to have a local bank account in the area you gamble - both for purposes of withdrawals (you can wire money there in advance of your trips) and deposits - you can deposit at least some of your winnings instead of traveling with tons of cash.

You might try Eagle Creek travel products for carrying large ($10-$20K) sums. Also, it's a good idea not to carry your cash all in one bundle. Two years ago, I was relieved of my wallet and its $300, but my $4000 or so tucked away in a money pouch survived the scare. It's a dangerous world out there.

Best...

How I Do It

I went to a Luggage/Travel shop and bought a money belt. The zipper is plastic, with velcro tabs, etc. so no metal to set off detectors when going thru airports.

Session bankroll is in front pocket with rubber band to deter pick pockets.

Wallet in back pocket has nothing of any real importance in it. ID and a few spare bucks is usually in my front shirt pocket.

Some places I deposit money at the cage and use markers.

I never use hotel room safes, use the safe behind the front desk (making sure Manager knows I know that he knows that I know).

Awareness and Prevention is 99% of the battle, hopefully you can avoid the other 1%.

Here is a link to the Eagle Creek product that I purchased several years ago.

Thanks for the info all. Looks like I will be carrying cash one way or another. I could do travelers checks or credit cards but these involve a vig that will hurt my EV. Maybe something that goes up the leg of my pants to hide it.
