Trouble registering, or trouble posting attachments.

If you tried to register for the site in the last two days, you probably had trouble.
In addition, if you tried to upload an attachment, that wasn't working either.

The problems have hopefully been resolved. Let me know if you still have trouble. Thanks, -Ken-

Why did Blackjackinfo.com move to a new physical local server?

What was wrong with the old one?

Generally, the lifetime of a server is considered to be about 2 years, and the previous server was 2.5 years old. A couple of months back, I got a few disk I/O errors, so I figured it was time to move.

When you compare to a typical desktop PC, remember that this machine is hammered 24/7 with a lot of requests. The web logs for BlackjackInfo alone show over 300,000 web requests per day. That's "hits", not visitors. We get about 8000 visits per day here. Add in the other sites on the server, the email processing, and a lot of database work that the server does and you can see the server stays pretty busy.

By the way, if you're curious, the server for this site is in a data center in Cedar Falls, Iowa. I've never even been there.

I was kinda curious.

I noticed that "currently active user's" has been abnormally low since the change. Currently 17. Thats real low! Is there a connection? Oh well, I'll just blame it on the Economy..lol
