First--
What is the advantage to playing Spanish 21?? They take out all the bloody tens. I played a couple times but got murdered :p

Second--
I know a player should stick to BS most of the time, but I do know there are plays where it just doesn't make sense to, for instance, hitting a hard 12 against a dealers 2 or 3 when the true count is up +7 or 8 or something. So where can I find information on when exactly to deviate from BS?

I've only used Hi-Lo, dealer hits soft 17 at the tables I play on, if that helps

Thanks Guys!

1) There is an excellant thread on the forum in which the author of the definitive book on Spanish 21 explains the advantages of Sp 21 much better than I can.
2)There are many lists of indices(plays) that are count dependant. Google The Illustrious 18. Those are the 18 most common departures from BS.

Do not play Spanish 21 using regular BJ BS. Its a recipe for disaster.

Maybe you should learn BS for SP21 first before you learn when to deviate from it.

The reason it has a different name than "BJ" is because it's not BJ. Forget BJ.
It's totally different.

Does your game allow re-doubles? If not, the game pretty much sucks. Can you draw to split Aces? Etc.

Chances are basic strategy is to hit all 12's, all 13's, versus all dealer upcards, up to 14 vs 3. Maybe stand on 2 or 3-card 13's vs 6 depending but probably since it's H17.

If that simple stuff is news to you, don't play anymore.

You'll be killed.

Not just mercifully poisoned but stabbed, suffocated, shot and beaten to death.

As in Plaintiff: "It was an accident - the gun just went off" Judge "Six times in his head?"
