Agree. A couple points:Automatic Monkey said:Everybody has their own relationship with alcohol. Some people can't drink at all, for a variety of reasons. My advice would be to drink up to an amount where you would still consider driving, if it is a natural thing for you to drink. I wouldn't recommend starting up with alcohol just for blackjack cover.
If you are drinking for cover another good rule would be to only drink at the table. No drinks with dinner, nor when taking a break sitting at the bar watching a game or something.
1. Most people (particularly men) think that alcohol affects them less than it does. Nearly all men think they can drink, play Poker and make love far better than they can. You should practice playing while drinking twice what you expect to in a casino and see the effect.
2. The biggest danger in drinking is not making errors or losing count, it is losing inhibitions and over-betting or refusing to leave in awful counts.
3. If you do drink while playing, never on an empty stomach. Eating something oily can delay the effect.
4. Alcohol is likely to reduce the overall hours you can put in.
Oh, on the comments on Belgian bear. The Belgians make the best bear in the world IMO. There's a great spot in Brussels a block from Grand Place that has local rock bands. (Or at least used to.) Drink all night and you wakeup and feel great. I prefer it over German bears.
