Using Fake Names

I have never been in the situation where I could be comped, but thats because I play for mostly nickels playing basic strategy.

Anyways, I have a coule questions.

1) How much do you have to win to have to show an ID to cash out?
2) If your getting comped, can you just use a fake name and they dont need any ID at all?

3) What happens when #1 and #2 get combined?

Local Casinos

At the local casinos where I play you have to show you ID in three instances:

1)When you ENTER the casino
2)When you cash out from a poker tournament
3)When you cash out more than $600 from anything else.

I don't know where you're playing that you think you can get away with a fake name, but good luck!

If you are receiving any comp these days, or are cashing out over $10K (or lesser amounts in many places) you will need to show ID at some time or another. This can be problematic. Presenting a fake ID can be potentially worse; in this age of terrorists and illegal aliens using forged or phony documentation can result is suspicion of something much worse than advantage play.

So I would be extremely careful if using any phony ID. At the lower levels it is probably totally unneccesary. At the very least, if you have fake ID keep all your instruments with the fake name segregated in a separate wallet that you carry and use as little as possible. And don't use it for other purposes- that way you will have a good case that you only use it for a legal activity.

I think you'd have to be winning an awful lot of money to draw the attention of the Casino. Don't they look more at the way you play as opposed to the amount you win? If you're really winning that much money maybe you shouldn't be that concerned about the comp card. You can't have your cake and eat it too. You could cash your chips in a little at a time and maybe hit slots after playing BJ and just burn a little of your money.

Blackjack players do get backed off also when they are losing. My first back off I was actually down a couple hundred for the session.:sad:

I've often wondered about this too. I'm going to make the transition from just BS to counting relatively soon. If I'm averaging a $25 bet for a few hours, there had better be a few free meals or maybe a room comped to me. I've never had that problem before because I was just playing for nickels.

So if the idea is to get comped, but be counting and not get backed off, where's the happy medum area? I want my cake and I'd like to eat it too!

Most likely,the reason you've never been comped isn't that you were betting nickels,its that you never asked.Most small csinos will comp you a buffet for two just for asking if you have given them some time on the tables.

Not at the damn Sands in AC. My wife and I flat bet nickels for over 3 hours and we got something like $2.25 on our player cards. I'm so glad they're tearing that place down.

I don't know about anything but the few casinos I go to here in the Midwest but the only way you can find out what you have is ask the Pit Boss. The only thing they use the card for is identification. The only way to get money in your account on the card is to play the slots.

When playing table games,you need to ask the pitboss,not check your players cards.If you don't ask,you won't get it. I can't repeat that often enough. I play at the Sands and have never not gotten a meal voucher when I asked the pit-boss. I'm actually sorry to see it go,I really enjoyed the Brighton Steakhouse and the old Epic Buffet.Not the recent buffets,but the old one.

I finally got the guts to ask for a comp (due to this forum). I was playing for about 3 hours and was up a little. I simply flagged the pit boss and said, "I was told by my friend to ask so I was wondering if I could get a comp for a meal...I have been playing for 3 hours". She was very nice, checked my card account then appologized that I only had $3 on my card and they are not allowed to write comps. About 30 minutes later, I was coloring up and she came over with a $15 comp ticket and said, "my boss went ahead and allowed me to write this up for you...".

It was at the Nugget in Laughlin and I was playing reds. I don't know if it matters but when I was cashing out, I was up about 25 units...not like I was breaking the house...

So, I'll not be shy about asking from now on. They can only say no...

I've heard of a neat trick to use comps to deflect heat. If you are spreading and a PC is hawking you, you can call him over and start pestering him for comps. He may start avoiding you then. He may also be unwilling to throw you out in front of other players, because it will look to them like you were thrown out for asking for comps.

One time I did this at a carnival game where a dealer was blowing a rule to my advantage. I kept the PC distracted by bugging him for a room, so he failed to pay attention to the game, and I got another half hour of big EV out of it.

omg i luv it thats a classic...... now that i think of it i seen a guy who i could tell was AP doing virtually the same thing. never realized till now what he was likely up to. :eyepatch:

Easiest way to to befriend the PB. Tell him you are staying at another casino but you enjoy HIS casino much more.Compliment him on his well-trained staff,everything and everything.Then mention that you are hungry and hate to leave but your wife has a free buffet from the other casino.Works 95% of the time.
