Video blackjack paying 2 to 1?

Hey all. Fairly new to the world of couting and AP and just returned from a trip to Vegas. I did fairly well with my amateur counting at the "real" tables but also wandered around when they were too crowded and tried my luck at some of the video blackjack machines, which I thought would be horrible rules and a waste of time. However I found some which pay 2 to 1 on blackjack, although you can only double on 10 or 11. You can split (I forget if it is just one split allowed or up to 4 times). Isn't playing perfect BS on these machines giving the player advantage with 2 to 1 blackjack? Obviously no counting skills are involved but if I ran the online calculator I looked at it shows edge to the player? Or am I crazy?

Oh other things to note at least on the one I was playing (and ended up having a nice run on) DAS was allowed, can split aces, and also late surrender was allowed.

Thanks for the help guys...

Usually the BJ machines try to trick you by paying 2 for 1 instead of 2 to 1. Paying 2 for 1 is the same as even money so that increases the house edge by about 2.27%. They pull the same trick on the craps tables too. :(

I believe most BJ machines shuffle after every hand (or don't tell you when they are shuffling) so counting is usually not possible.

You are not the first to get fooled by this. One of my first posts here was on the same subject.I thought I had found a great game to play,as well.

You need a machine that pays 5/2

It is language, machine talk vs table game talk.
When you bet a unit on a machine it is deducted from your total, you now have one unit less. If the machine now pays you two units you now have one more unit than you had before you placed your bet. You got even money for a blackjack.

Very similar to video poker. Oh, I got jacks or better, I won a bet! Oh wait, that's actually a push.

Well foolishly I played this machine for quite awhile and either I never got a blackjack or I was too drunk to notice that I got even money when I did. Heh heh....played right into the casino's hands but ended up walking away with money thanks to dumb luck.
