Voodoo of the Day

Each visit to the store brings us up against some strange phenomenons.

Those once a year days when the planets must have fell in line which each other and everything you do works perfectly.

Then you run into those days when if a bird plops 100 yards over your head it would hit you square in the eye at the instant you looked up, nothing works no matter how high the count goes or how much BR you bring with you.

Your kicking butt for hours and all of a sudden the dealer pulls 21 after 21 after 21. Your pushing 20's for the rest of the day.

I once had 17 pairs of aces in 12 hours of play and won 14 of the pairs, all with 4's (soft 15's) (yes I literally mean I only pulled 4's on the aces). I lost the ones I thought I should win.. 18's, 19's, & 20's.

On a recent trip I pulled A,9 vs 10.... I lost count of them after 18 times, and pushed every single one against a dealers 20. So freaking aggravating....

With LS, you surrender 16 vs X (index plays of course) and every time you watch the next card be a 4 or 5. Then the other experts at the table ask why you don't just hit my 16 since I see my card go by every time- dumb me- I'll take my 50% back please and pass on the hit thank you.

Your beating the odds getting a natural about 3-4 times per shoe (heads up) just to push the dealer's natural... in low counts too... UGH!!!

Wow.... I think I'm feeling better now.... thanks.. It's so funny how such a few little words can make one feel so much better. I hope this shouldn't have been in the Zen Zone as sometimes I feel as... as Primeman says, your in the BJ Twilight Zone.

I absolutely hate days when the hands you should be winning aren't and the only way to make out is the dealer busts. This has always been the one thing that shakes the soul of a counter. It's really bad when the rest of the table pities the crap you are catching time after time hand after hand. I guess we either have a heart for this game or not. blackchipjim

Maybe it is BJ Hell and we are all fooled into thinking we can win. Is it all a myth? Maybe it is all luck? What do you say? Maybe the book pushers are the real winners! Lets not forget the software sales people. Maybe it is a myth cooked up by the casino to get you to believe that you can win. Maybe it's all luck! I don't give a flying **** one way or the other. All I know is that I have almost a 6 figure bankroll due to knowing what I am doing or just blind LUCK. Either way I don't give a flying ****. All I do is count my GREEN.

In the method of the wise one, the green one, the wordy one, the sagefr0g:

so you learned what you were doing through osmosis of the card backs or maybe it was just through an alien encounter or maybe just one of those books hit home maybe it was from watching the movie over and over again. Somehow luck of the frog the kiss of the princess the finding of a four leaf clover just fell by your pillow or just maybe you read about the ways of the game

or watched the shuffles and did the math. somehow somewhere the ways of jstat fell upon you and gifted you with knowledge that us mear mortals will never possess but perhaps your right to say the cooks at the casino stirred and brewed a concoction of the correct herbs to blind us into thinking we can win but somehow it didn't effect you, or me, or sonny, or 21forme, or cp, or many others who have been brain washed into buying the software the books the myths or whatever.

But inplay your holiness lose your fu@@ing attitude 'cause it reallys su@ks. None of us deserve it maybe you really lost 6 digits and thats why your so bitter at the book salesman the software developers or just the few of us who want to respect each others opinions and learn from each other and if you earned 6 digits from playing than share with us your secrets in a manner that respects the hobby, the game, the pro's, the beginners, and all those here who really want to do it right those not fortunate to have the four leaf clover fall by their pillow in the middle of the night those like me who have spent hours and hours and hours reading, studying, talking to others, building online camaraderie, practicing to get it right.

Sh?t on yourself not on us please.

I seem to play almost exclusively in the BJ Twilight Zone. Its like my own personal VIP, or high limit area. and yes, theres a cover charge!
My personal favourite was for about an 8 hour time period, where I doubt I won over 10% of my hands. The majority of hands that I won were due to the dealer making mistakes. You know when surrendering hands seems like a big win, your in the BJ Twilight Zone

I was just trying to say maybe their is more luck involved then the numbers indicate. Nothing more and nothing less. As I have stated before that I use nothing more then the KISS III count. I think you have read the book yourself by Fred Renzey so their is not much to say other then sometimes it's better to be LUCKY then good maybe.

I got you now.. Inplay.

Thanks for the clearing things up for me.

And yes, Fred Renzey's book is one of the many I have read through a number of times. You never know what you've missed on the first read, so I read all the good ones over again as time passes.
