What are they thinking?

This is the time of year when my investment returns money so I was able to go back to "work" this week with a clear conscience. I had a great week and showed a decent profit every day so I'm really not mad but what are these people thinking?

Why would you stand on an ace/3?

Why won't you hit your 16? (especially at negative counts)

Why do you double your 4/2?

Why did you split your 3's when the dealer shows a ten?

Why do you hit your 14 when the dealer shows a 6?

WHY!!! did you and your wife wait for the pit boss to stand at our table to ask me how I know when to raise my bet and lower my bet? "Wow you always know what to do...You bet a lower amount and we lose, you bet 6 times your bet and you get a blackjack. What are you psychic?"

The man and wife, that is a negative with the PC standing there, but also a compliment. I bet it made you feel good though:eek:

I am always entertained by other players, up to the point where they get in my face, or maybe even threaten. At that point they do not know what just lays in waiting, just below the surface....a most unholy eruption:bomb:

I admit that I do enjoy greatly when I receive positive comments of the sort you received and at times I love to put on show.

This is just all part of the thrill of the game we all love so much.

I am glad you found this site Mathman, you are a very interesting and learned player.

I keep waiting for someone to ask how I know when to raise my bet. I hope they don't but the other day in a high count I won 5 or 6 straight max bets with 20's. One guy at the table was blown away. He was happy for me but couldn't believe I was getting all those high hands. I just didn't want anyone to say "how do you know?";)

Thank you CP. I really appreciate everything you've done for me and yes I guess I do consider it a compliment when people say that stuff but...

If you're not playing at an empty table, that's one of the hazards of the game.

In my novice days, when I wasn't good at acting "casual" at the tables, one guy started calling me "the professor" after i made a killing in one shoe.

You know just today I was sitting next to a guy, and he could make the right plays (hit a 12 v 3, etc), I think he knew what he was supposed to do, but then on several occasions he'd bail out and do something hare brained like stand on 13 v 9. I don't get some people.

I actually greatly enjoy calling other players professor, especially if I can call them that ironically.

This makes me think of another one I forgot to mention. Two nights before this I had a relief dealer that was quoting the "book" telling a women to stand on her 12 vs 2 and 3. Then a couple hands later he told her not to split her 7's against his 4 because I had a 7 in my hand and that meant 7's were "out" so she should hit because she would most likely get another 7 for 21. That was a new one for me. Maybe I should ask him where to buy his book. lol.........JtMM

I get some really wierd looks when I play and it seems I can do no wrong. I have had to explain it away as pure luck at times and even asked someone to explain it to me why I'm winning. Crows on a fence warn each other of something not right. The husband and wife and pc are a bad combo and should've caused you to exit the joint. The pc probablly had you marked and staying would have just confirmed his suspicions.Smart allecks bring much uneeded attention to my play and warrant an exit in my op. I have had a few times when the table cheered my play loudly and this is bad. I started to color up and leave and they wanted to know why so I told them I'm tired and need a break. blackchipjim

Believe me when I tell you, it was exit stage left in a hurry. I'm just glad I was a winner at the time.......JtMM
