What count system should I be using

Hello all.

I'm sure this has been addressed already, so don't flame. I just hope this thread can answer all the questions I have (as well as others) in one shot.

Let's say I've been using hi-lo for most of my life (2 years). I've memorized all the indices for the negative counts as well as the positive counts. Placing and making my decisions is now second nature, so speed and efficiency is the upside for me. After discovering pitch games, I've started adapting hi opt 1, which I believe is a tad more powerful and not too difficult to incorporate. By now, I am very comfortable with it. However after doing a bit of research on this forum, I see that this system isn't as powerful as I thought. Hi Opt 2 also seems to be unpopular, which I don't understand why.

My question is what would be the best system for me in a SD or DD game for me based on my experience with hi-lo and hi opt 1. Should I just stick to what I'm comfortable with or should I use a different system due to it's unpopularity. If I do use a different system, which should I use? I hear zen is good, which doesn't require a side count. I have no trouble keeping a side count of aces. I feel that a side count of aces should be important, but apparently people don't think so? I also don't want to go through the process of switching back and forth between two different indexes for two different counts. However if that is the only case, I will make the effort of making the transition.

My 2nd question is what is the next step up for shoe games? Should I start trying out halves, or is it better to play quick with hi-lo? I have a feeling in time, halves will become 2nd nature to me. I have all the time in the world to practice.

Thanks!

Hm I'm new to this forum, so I'm assuming all the features should be set to the default. I see a chat option below. I sent you a message, but not getting any response.
