What do you think of this?

I have a green chip in the betting circle. I am dealt a 16, dealer had a ten. I surrender. Instead of taking my green chip and giveing me two reds, two dollars, and a 50 cent coin, he reaches into my chip stack, takes two reds, two dollars and a 50 cent coin, and leaves my green chip bet alone.

I am not so sure the dealers are allowed to touch the chips in your stack. I would think the pit and surveilance would have a problem with that.

i think it has to do with what joint you are in. some are stricter than others about how the dealers handle chips. one joint i frequent the dealers horse around with players they know well enough. they will actually take a big stack of a players chips, place them all on the players betting circle and get everyone at the table laughing. other joints i've been in are strictly business when it comes to cash and chips. some joints if a dealer makes some sort of chip error he will immeadiately call in the pit boss and tell him what happened, at another joint the dealer might just correct the error himself and go on dealing.

I would raise all hell if this happened to me. Imagine if it were the other way around? You won the hand so you take it upon yourself to go into the dealer's chip tray and pay yourself. Security would be all over you in a split second.

The first thing I would have done would be to yell "FLOOR"

I would also make a REALLY big stink about it to get my point accross.. trying to get more comps out if it just to shut me up.

heh, heh such antics by dealers doesn't make much differance to me. it can be mildly amusing but also distracting and time consuming. i never thought about trying to ply a comp out of the pit over something like that

Jokes or bad procedure

If with a player well known it might be overlooked but I know of no casino where the dealer can reach into your stack.

Though taking your chips and giving you half back is the usual method, I have seen cases where the dealer might ask you to take $12.50 from your stack and let you keep your green. He places the $12.50 in front of your bet for a second for the camera and then scoops it up. But he asks you, does not take. This usually happens in cases where the dealers rack is short of silver or red.

I didn't do anything about it. I just thought it was very strange that a dealer would do this. He did it more than once. I was certainly NOT a regular at this casino. I was on vacation in Vegas. This is the first time this dealer dealt to me. It was one of the fancier casinos on the strip.
