I.E. Sharkscope.com and a couple more like it.

You pay them a monthly fee, and you can get stats ( $$$ won/lost in tournaments on sharkscope, others ) for all players on almost all of the major poker sites.

When I first heard about this site, I was a little amazed, thinking this has to be totally illegal, then I realized that most of the major poker sites were allowing this. I went ahead and started using sharkscope, and man, is it great when you can screen your opponents before you play them. (cheap, maybe... way profitable, definitely)

What does everyone think about sites like these? Should a poker players' statistics remain private or should the general public have access to them (for the right price)?

I personally have cleaned up major league since I started utilizing this site. I mean, i've always been playing poker profitably, but you can really ramp up your profits when you only play against really bad players.

I think it's a brilliant work of capitalism. When enough people sign up for using it, then they can add a new option: pay an extra fee to have your name de-listed. When enough people are de-listed, they can add a third option: pay an extra fee to get a list of de-listed people (minus the statistics, of course, but you'd know they watched the site and wanted themselves de-listed for whatever reason).
