I may have gone to Borgata too many times during the same shift.
The pit crew started recognizing me.
There were tell tale signs, but I ignored them.
Finally it happened.
I sat at a table and played one shoe during a shift where I
didn't recognize the pit crew. After that one shoe, the pit
crew changed shifts and the new pit crew came in, and I
recognized this one particular guy. He frantically punched into
the computer that's next to my table. I guess he was trying to
see the damage, which was minimal. After the shuffle, on the
first round, I placed $25 on two spots. With an emotionally
charged tone and red face, the pit guy pointed at me and said,
“You can play only one hand.” He told others at the table,
“Everyone else can play as many hands as they want. But you can
play only one hand.” He repeated himself four times with
frantic hand gesticulations. Everyone heard him the first time,
but he felt the need to repeat four times. And finally he said,
“If you want to come to the side and talk, we’ll talk.”
I didn’t say anything and ignored him, and he said, “I didn’t
think so!” I got up, cashed in and walked out of the casino.
Others at the table were asking, “What was that all about?”
I’ve been backed off at Caesars in Las Vegas, so I know how it
works. The shift manager politely states that I’m just too
skilled for them, and that I may play any game I want except
Blackjack.
However, this fiasco at Borgata is bizarre, to say the least.
Why was the pit guy steaming red face?
On the first round immediately after the shuffle, I placed $25
at two spots. Why was that “wrong”?
Is there a name for what happened to me?
