What if the count never improves?

Say I'm playing 6d KO, and the count hovers around -5 or lower, but never breaks the key count. Am I doomed to bet 1 unit and hope for positive variance?

Only other strategy I can think of is wonging out. One problem I've had is how to make look natural. I wong'd out of 1 shoe that was going no where, cuz I 'had to go to the bathroom', and when the dealer said I couldn't hop back in on the same shoe, I looked puzzled.

But then the next shoe went negative as well... having already used up by bathroom excuse within the last 10 mins, what is another way to get away from a bad count, without looking like an AP

I presume your IRC is -20?

I'd just bet 1 unit each hand and stick it out and hope for better the next shoe. The count will go positive eventually.

Sounds like you're playing at a no mid-shoe entry table. Why did you want to come back in mid-shoe after a "bathroom break?" You don't know the count.

i didn't wanna come back in, but I wanted to make it look like I did cuz the pitboss was right behind him.

also, I was playing with my buddy, and unless I'm backcounting I tell him to ask me to wait for the next shoe so I have an excuse to wait for a fresh count

If its not going anywhere, and your stakes are $25u or less, you needn't feel subconcious about BLATANTLY abandoning the shoe. Go to another fresh shoe or just announce that you are going to wait for a shuffle. zg

Yeah, in no midshoe entry, you're especially constrained, and yet, it simplifies your "act" siginificantly. You're probably better off just taking your chips and moving to another table which is having a shuffle at the moment.

If you want to ham it up a little, suggest that the dealer and the other players at the table self-fornicate before leaving.

One hint... Be sure to set your phone to silent before you try this trick. There's nothing more embarassing than "talking" on your cell phone when it suddenly rings.

RC of -5 w/ KO

Playing the six deck shoe with KO, if your running count is -5 anywhere within the first 2.5 decks, the true count will be somewhere between +2.3 and +1.4 respectively, and you should actually bet multiple units even though you haven't yet reached the key count.

It's not until you get further into the shoe that even the key count of -4 will equal anywhere from +1.3 to -1.3 true.

Aren't flip phones not supposed to ring when they are open, because the ring can cause hearing damage?

I'm the anti-Bob Newhart, I totally can't fake half a hphone conversation.

Pretending to get a text message works better.

if you have a lazy friend who doesn't do **** all day then just have him call you every 20 minutes and have your phone on silent. if you don't choose to pick up then oh well. i guess this would only be for people who can't fake a phone call or a conversation too good.
