what to do?

On a trip to the casino a while back I was faced with a situation that I think I handled correctly. I'm sitting at third modest bet out dealer shows an ace up and asks for insurance. The count doesn't dictate but the dealers looks at me and out of earshot and eyesight tells me to take even money on my natural bj I say no. She becomes more presistent and I still refuse so she shoves even money out and flips her bj up. The other people at the table just looked stunned as did I but nothing was said. The next bet up I put a bet up for the dealer( I think that may have been an error) and won. I don't know if this looked like collusion or not but didn't know if it would make it appear as such. blackchipjim

putting the big bet out for the dealer was a mistake.

Could you tell what happened where she knew she had a BJ? Did the card flip up when trying to use the mirror device? Did she check under the mirror before asking for insurance?

Boy, tough ethics question. I doubt you'd get caught just for making good insurance plays, as long as you weren't 100% correct. You the defense that you were counting cards, as well, so you could claim you insured when the count was high.

On a moderate one-off bet like that I doubt you'll get any heat from the pit. In fact, taking even money on a blackjack might actually have thrown them further off the track that you were a counter / advantage player.

Hard to know, but sounds like you did nothing wrong.
