Whats Your plan with burn cards?

Iv always thought that asking to see the burn card might suggest im counting cards, seomtimes i do, sometimes i dont, sometimes somebody else asks for me. I really dont have a set plan

It seems that other people ask to see it often, but it also seems liek something a card counter would ALWAYS do.

What do you guys do?

Because it's something a counter would do, it's something counters never do.

If it's just one card, I really don't sweat it. If it's 10 cards, then you've got a problem.

Occassionally, when new dealer claps in to a table, and we're on a good, or bad, streak, I'll ask the dealer if they burned a card, if they didn't, just to insert a little bit of ploppy marvelling at the flow of the cards.

I think it's okay to ask if you are at 1st base and the burn card would have been yours. Otherwise I usually let it go.

If you are playing with a non-counter friend then have them ask.

i was at a place in the last month ( i can't remember where, i've played at like 10 different places, some for the first time), where a few dealers showed the burn card everytime. it wasn't a house policy, but they did it without being asked. the only place i care is at the long/big horn, when they burn 10! on a 66% game, ouch!

in AC in my experience they show the burn card sometimes without even asking (not like they hold it out there for long, they kind of just flash it across the table). when they dont, ive seen plenty of ploppies around the various table seats ask to see it anway and are shown without problems. as suggested above, i usually have a companion who just so happens to be "curious" about these sorts of things...

I agree.

IGNORE the burn card. If burn is more than one card, deduct from pen and calculate whether EV is still worthwhile.

My experience with the burn card is that the dealer guards it like their down card. Slaps it straight down (face down) on the table and slides it across and into the shoe as if it were some kind of huge security threat to the house.

At the Longhorn/Bighorn,they flip over the card that normaly would be the burn card.Whatever value it is,they then burn that many more. If its a duece, they burn to more,if its a ten value, they burn ten more.Obviously, you
end up with 11 cards burned a good deal of the time. The double down on any three cards and late surrender rules negate this a little. I generally only play there if I have a bunch of MPs and Ist Card Ace coupons.
