My wife & I are going to Vegas in Jan. Being new attempting AP's where should we play with 6 dicks & good playing conditions with a 10-15 min range. We'll play 25 min if we have to. Thanks in advance for any help!!

my opinion

I will be in Vegas also next week... think this is my 7th or 8th trip this year. I stay at the Harrah's resorts.. for the strip that is Paris, Ballys, and Harrahs (forget Flamingo it is a dump)

anyway, of those Ballys has the most tables at the lower limits... $10 is available but usually onlyin the mornings

at night and weekends any $15 tables on the strip will be jam packed with folks

I also end up at New Yor New York quite a bit... there tables just don't see the crowds and the atmosphere is good

I don't like Ceasars,,, they are pretty snobby over there.

Treasure island is really dark inside

a fun NEW place is Planet Hollywood right next to Paris... this used to be the Aladin and has been totally redone in the last few months.. fun place .. nice atmosphere

Stay away from all Harrah's blackjack

For $10-$15 you will find good shoe games at MGM and Monte Carlo.
For $25 you can add Mirage, Mandalay Bay, Trop and several others.
Also, Slots-A-Fun for $5

The Harrah's high limit ($100 minimum) is inferior to these games and their lower limit games are even worse.

6 dicks is quite a lot to play with at one time don't you think?

i keep hearing about how bad harrahs is, but a member on here told me the harrahs in joliet illinois has a -.36% 6 deck game with $15 tables, altho they do cover the shoe and discard, and the horseshoe in hammond indiana has your standard -.43% 6 deck game with tables starting at $10 before 6pm

Harrah's in the rest of the country may have different rules than Vegas.

For instance, the local Harrah's 2D game allows DAS, Harrahs-Harrahs on the Strip does not. The local 8D game allows late surrender, Harrah-Harrahs 8D game does not.

Go where the rules are good!

Harrah's casino will destroy any AP cardcounter. Go to the El Cortez where the rules are fair! You need good rules or you simply will not win no matter how good you are. Look for good 2 deck games if you are on the strip profurably with double any two double after the split and a 3/2 payout on blackjack you simply can't be an honest AP if blackjack pays a horrific 6 to 5!

At many locations Harrah's does have decent games. Of course, the MGM etc Vegas 6 deck games I wrote about earlier are at .26%-.33%, so they are still better than Joliet.
The thing is Harrah's gives you a decent game in Illinois and then these free trips to Vegas. But in fact you pay for that trip to Vegas by playing games with twice or more, the house edge. They are smart and they really never give you something for nothing.

Covering their shoe and discard rack is just an example of their typical paranoia.

Strip casinos: You might try double deck at the Venetian. Games range from $25 on up, but at times, when it's crowded, they are $50 and up. Also. I had luck with the 6-deck ($15) at planet hollywood. I'd say shop around, but don't waste time looking at Harrah-owned casinos (Harrah's, Bally's, Paris, Caesar's). Also, I found a good double deck game at Treasure Island, and I heard that Mirage is a good place to play.

I've got to disagree with you on this. Once you make a premium level(Platinum or Diamond),you can milk Harrahs for years, living large off their very public teat. Once you get into their computer system, you have to work to get out of it.I know people who have abused their free room offers for years and Harrahs just keeps sending them more offers, often better offers than players recieve.I've found that going Platiunum once every three years will get you three years worth of food and room comps. I'm on my second cycle and am pretty sure I'll push to see if once every four years does the trick.

You are correct Shadroch.
I know a few people who also take advantage of their comp system till it dries up on them and then go for diamond in a day or something like that and repeat the advantage game over again.
So, I should have said that they do not plan to give you something for nothing but if you are smart, you can take them.
Good point. Guess since my presence in a Harrah's casino is not welcome, playing their comp system just does not enter my mind. Yet.

I find Harrahs Total Rewards program to be the most EV+ game in town.
But it takes a lot of work and networking to get it right. Not for the timid or the weak of heart.

"But it takes a lot of work and networking to get it right."

What do you mean? Could you give me an example?

Thanks, Jim

Like I said somehwere else I was pretty happy last week finding 3 24-hour $5multi-deck tables, S17, DOA, DAS with LS on the strip. If they were full, same rules at the $10 tables.

Maybe even RSA, can't remember and never had occasion to ask lol.

I didn't think I could ask for much more lol.
