Two games,same casino

Game 1) SD,H17,split Aces only once,no DAS,no mid shoe entry,a spread more than 1-5 draws heat. Dealt facedown.

Game 2) DD,H17,split Aces only once,DAS,enter/leave at will,no heat for 1-12 spreads. Dealt face up

Given these choices, which would you play and why?

Pen. is important to know, too.
However, based on the info given, my gut says #2. Besides the spread, mid-shoe entry, and no heat, I like the face up dealing, being an east coaster and never playing face down.

Average on both. About 60%,sometimes a bit more depending where the cut card comes out in the hand.

For those who play in Vegas,I'm asking about the SD or DD games at the El Cortez

I have been told that the 2D pene is superior making that the better game. zg

I pick game two!

I like game two because there is double after split and you can double any two cards. I can bet that game with a 1-6 bet spread so getting a 1-12 spread makes it even more beatable. If you can't beat the 2nd game you probably are making too many mistakes counting.

By the way the first game is good if you don't get heat too.

If you are talking about using those spreads at the El Cortez you will get massive heat. When I was there a couple of months ago I was using a 1-4 on the SD and I could hear two suits discussing my play and deciding what to do with me. That was all I needed to hear so I grabbed my chips and left. I was spreading from green to black so that might of had something to do with it. You might be ok if betting from $5 and up. Maybe a red chipper on this board can advise you on that!

Thats why I believe the DD is a better game. I just came back and had no problem spreading $3-50 on the DD game and saw someone spreading green chips from 2-25,although he was playing very strangely and not using any count that I could figure. Also saw a middle eastern guy spreading from 1 green to 5 black with no heat, but again he was not using any system I could figure.
I bet $5 on the first round, would go to $3 or 10 on the next and would ramp up if the count dictated.Several times I won with $25 bets out and let them ride, with zero heat over several days.
On the SD game,as soon as I jumped from $10 to $25,I got heat.
Now this was all done playing from 5AM until around Noon. I've heard the late afternoon shift still gives heat, but I can't say as I avoid playing then.

BUT pene is THE issue - if both games are 60% then the 1D version is far superior at 1-6. If, however, the 2D is 80% it becomes the far superior game. zg

In terms of the game, pretty much any SD game is going to be better than any DD game, assuming you can play SD with no more than 2 hands in the game. The DD at the EC is quite good and probably the best low-stakes DD in town. One good thing to know is that most of the heat is on the SD there and as a result you can get away with a little bit more on the DD as a result. But be prepared to be ejected.

penetration vs. edge

At the casino that I play at, they have great penetration (85-90%). I am just curious what kind of edge that gives me. I know it's great when I have a high running count and I go past that one deck left mark. I am just curious about the edge.
