who's a better ap partner male or female

Good evening gentlemen, I was poising the question to those who play either teams or just partner teams. Do you or have you the experienced having a female partner on your team? I curious as to them being better or comparable to males. I'm not trying to be funny, but the question of women being better gamblers than men came up and I believe them to be only because of left side, right side orientation. I know that math classes are geared for the male brain but what about gambling and math. blkchpjim:devil:

I'm currently teaching a female cousin of mine to count. No question in my mind a family female partner is much better than male. Draws less heat in my opinion. If I didn't have a family member to work with I would use all females and use polygraph for team members. It helps because I'm a licensed operator with 25 years experience.

I agree with Jim. I have worked with females for both partner play and team play. All things being equal (well trained, reliable, trustworthy, etc.) they can get a bigger advantage than males. A female family member can be a mixed blessing though. The good side is that you can trust them completely, but the bad side is that you can’t use any of the “sweetheart couple” partner plays. You can always adapt them (the plays that is, not the females!), but the “couples” plays can often take much of the heat off.

Well I guess it all depends on what you mean by "AP", hehhehheh...

Let me be the contrarian here; although I wouldn't rule out having female partners for advantage play, and they might be preferable for some acts, overall I'd rather play with men. The biggest reason is that if any of the really bad things that can happen to AP's out in the field (worse than losing your money at the table) happen, I don't want to have to worry about protecting a woman, which is something I believe in doing and don't want to change about myself.

And I think men are also more willing to work in unpleasant situations like bad hours and dirty or dangerous environments. There's also the matter that a team of men can negotiate among themselves as equals, and despite women's lib and all that, boys and girls really are different. So I prefer to fight the battles of the baize as a man alongside men, and we can enjoy our time out with the girls when the battle is won.

I have mixed feelings on this subject. Although I have never had a woman on my team, I have seen some excellent female AP's and have seen them work out great for other teams. However it seems to depend on the role they're playing if they're beneficial or not. As spotters or as backcounters or as camoflauge they're great due to the casinos stereotype that females aren't generally counters. But with a bigger bankroll they tend do draw heat as a big player due to another casino stereotype that women don't play with big money. That would lead to a lot of unwanted attention created by big money play of a woman. Especially if she appeared to be alone and the casino felt the need to watch her closely to make sure no one was to harrass her. There are ways around these problems I guess, but from my experience the least logistical planning needed for a trip, the less that can go wrong.

I basically think they can be great for a team if they're skilled and their role is well thought out. But that goes for a man AP too, so I guess there isn't much difference when it comes right down to it.

OK, the only partners I have ever had were women. Perhaps 25 years ago an excellent female AP could raise havoc on the casinos easier than today, but the female AP still has an advantage going in because most casino types who watch the games are still male, and guys wrongly think "girls can't do math." Of course if she is not good that advantage can evaporate quickly.

My occasional partner is my niece who happens to be an engineer, so I guess she can do the math.

I've only really worked with one female as I'm a solo counter.. but she's a very good counter.. she's my wife.

She plays the "stupid female" part (as in she acts uninterested in the game but is there because I wanted to come) but she is accurate as hell as far as counting goes. We can play at the same table, but we've found it more effective for her to count while I put on a show. She keeps count and after every hand she scratches the running count into the back of my neck. I have long hair so the cameras won't pick that up and it looks like she's just rubbing my neck. Then I adjust that count to the true count.. in case someone's blocking her view of the discard tray.

That way I'm at the table cracking jokes, talking to everyone... talking to the dealer. Hell, once someoen even brought up MIT counting and we talked about that (got me a little nervous but I drew no heat.) The dealer actually TOLD me it generally takes them *3* shoes before they can tell if someone is counting or not. What was kinda funny is this same table is where the count started to go down to negative and people started raising their bets ("because the good cards are coming out now!") and someone gets blackjack. To which I then said "See, card counting works! Thanks MIT!"
