Why house has the edge.

I can't understand one thing at blackjack, why all the sites say that house has the edge if they don't give you bonusses. Both the player and the house have the same rules, the same cards and in fact you have an advantage becouse you see the first card of your opponent. I really don't see why...

If the player busts, the house wins. If the dealer busts, the player wins. If they both bust, the house wins. In a fair game a "double bust" would be a tie, but instead the house is winning. That's where they get the edge.

The only thing that gives the house the edge is that when you bust, even if the dealer busts after you, the house still takes your money. Every other rule benifits the player, but they don't make up for the the massive difference that you bust first gives the house.

It is the most important rule in blackjack

Often overlooked, but nothing in blackjack is more important.

Yeh, but if it was a 'fair' game, the dealer wouldn't have to hit to 17 and would have the option of doubling, splitting, surrendering ect ect so it would change the game entirely lol.

I believe there is an element to blackjack that IS more important. The PLAYER has to make a decision FIRST. This is the one disadvantage to the player that out weighs all the rest.

People make bad plays all the time!!!

Blackjack is a close to even game in the casino if you play it right. The key word is play it right there are so many blackjack players out their who have no clue how to play the game and give the house at least a 5-10% edge over them. Over on hit or stand the have a stragedy trainer that teaches you basic stragedy I would bet if the average player would play that they would get between 80-90%. Even if they can get a 100% on the stragedy trainer there are still facing a .5% to 1.5% disadvantage in most of the casinos. Two casinos in tahoe have a disadvantage of .18 to .33%!

Of course if the dealer played first and busted, you would never bust and it would not be an even game. We could get into this in many ways.
Dealer plays first and sees everyone on the table has 15 or 16, so the dealer stays with 13? There is no way you could ask the dealer to hit till 17 and also play first.
The game would be a completely different game, it would also be different if both you and the dealer bust and it is considered a push.

There is never a reason for a basic strategy player to play any blackjack game with a house edge over .5%!
There are reasons for a cardcounter to play some of those games.
There are tons of casinos in Vegas with games .5% and under. Dozens with games at .33% and under but Tahoe has just two.

Hell, there are a dozen or more Indian Casinos in California with games under .5% and a few with games under .33% and under. The only reason to go to Tahoe is the lake and the skiing.
