Wi/Wo, KO, TKO, etc.

I've been working up the KO ladder, so to speak, over the last couple of months. Starting w/ reKO then KO-P and now KO-Full. Alot of computer practice w/ weekly trips to the casino. There is a $5 8Deck S17 table close by on weekday mornings that I use strictly for practice purposes. As strange as it may sound I really don't care whether I win or lose at this table. I look at it as a cheap educational opportunity. No pressure, no heat, no big wins, no big losses. Just a place I can go and practice all the things involved w/ counting in a live situation. Another aspect of my live practice is backcounting and this is where todays question comes in.

Again, I've gotten over the idea of making big bucks for right now and consider all my play to be practice and educational. The times I've tried backcounting it usually worked out ok but I'm not sure I was getting all the value I can out of it. Using KO I would hover around and wait for the count to get to -6 RC (IRC -28, 8deck H17) and jump in with $15 (table min) bet. And flat bet throw in an extra nickel now and again as the count rises up to a max of $40 at RC +4 and above. I know this is not very scientific and perhaps plain wrong.

From what I've read this may not be the best I can do right now. For one I think my spread is wrong and my wong in numbers are probably a little low. I got a hold of the spread sheet posted here by mimosine, 21forme and KO-Rob as well as a copy of BJA and have been mulling over chapter 13. And this is what I've come up with...

wong in with min at

RC -17..... TC 1.0..... 7Decks remaining
RC -14..... TC 1.0..... 6
RC -11..... TC 1.0 ..... 5
RC -8 ..... TC 1.0 ..... 4
RC -5 ..... TC 1.0 ..... 3

wong out or start counting a different table at

RC -25 ..... TC -0.83..... 6decks remaining
RC -20 ..... TC -0.80 ..... 5
RC -15 ..... TC -0.75 ..... 4
RC -10 ..... TC -0.67 ..... 3

I'd like some feedback on these points, such as, do I now bet according to RC or develop a betting stategy based off the TC? The wi/wo point are easy to remember as I fudged them to drop incrementally. Also can anyone suggest a more acceptable bet spread for backcounting. Right now I'm not working with a BR so to speak, just a weekly, easily replaceable $200 or so. After this summer I should have a reasonable, for $10 tables anyway, 10K BR to work with and am trying to get up to speed by then.

Thanks for any input. This student appreciates it.

Personally, I wong in when TC = +1.5. It probably doesn't pay to backcount past the 3rd deck of an 8D shoe. Schlesinger ran some numbers in BJA3 and found that if the deck doesn't go positive early, you're better off finding another table to backcount.

I usually place a 3U bet at that wong-in point, and ramp up to a 10U bet at TC = +4

Thanks for the reply 21forme.

I'll have a chance to try it out tonight. Nothing but $15 tables in Canada friday nights. Cant afford play-all, so I guess I get to practice backcounting. Meanwhile my wife will be playing her brand of psychic BJ and craps. No BS, no counting, all hunches...she actually does pretty good. She played CVBJ the other day and she won $100,000. So there is NO talking to her now.
