Different playing rules will effect a few basic strategy plays, single / multi-deck for example. For the newby the "rule of thumb" is to first learn basic strategy for the common game at your favorite casino, or simply a six-deck shoe game. When you have mastered this, learning the few alterations to basic strategy for another set of rules is a breeze. Please note, even if you play basic strategy for a six-deck at a two deck game you are giving up very little to the house. i play 6D games about 95% of the time, so for me learning multiple BS charts is a waste of time. While reading "KO Blackjack" the authors only include 1 BS chart for ALL games. there are a few varriations for different rules, but these more subtle changes have a very very small effect on your odds as Tenn pointed out.
